Participant Information

Lavender Leaders Fall Retreat is a leadership for incoming students interested in further exploring their gender identities and sexualities in relationship to leadership. The inaugural retreat will occur October 1-2, 2021.

What are you looking for in a Lavender Leaders Facilitator?

Lavender Leaders Participants should be curious about themselves and others, and want to connect with Queer and Trans students. Lavender Leaders Participants don't need to be experts about their identities or the identities of others - they just need to be invested in working toward a more equitable and just world!

Who can become a Lavender Leaders Participant?

Any incoming UNT student, first-year or transfer, who is starting their time at UNT in Fall 2019.

Where will the retreat take place?

We're not sure yet, but we're looking at a few overnight locations within 2 hours of Denton. We are hoping to create an overnight retreat, in an environment with shared sleeping spaces.

Facilitator Information

We are currently recruiting facilitators who will mentor, guide, and support incoming students through individual and group meetings, and activity facilitation. Training retreat facilitators will occur during the first 4 weeks of the fall semester in evening or weekend sessions.

What are you looking for in a Lavender Leaders Facilitator?

Lavender Leaders Facilitators should be feel comfortable and able to reflect on their own gender identity and sexuality in order to mentor incoming students. This could mean that Facilitators are questioning, or feeling in a moment of certainty about identity as long as they are comfortable talking with incoming students about those feelings.

Who can become a Lavender Leaders Facilitator?

Any UNT student who will be enrolled during Fall 2021 is welcome to apply.
