Marcos A. Villarreal grew up in Stafford, Texas, right outside of Houston. Marcos attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX studying Biology with a concentration in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with a minor in Combined Sciences. After graduation, he received his teacher's certification and started his journey in education as a middle school science teacher in Killeen, TX. He then continued his journey in Austin, TX as a Chemistry/Physics teacher before ultimately deciding to continue his education at the University of Texas-San Antonio pursuing a Master's in Higher Education Administration. . After 2 years, he received his master's degree and started his higher education career in diversity and equity work and has set him on a journey for the future. Moving into the role of Assistant Director for Latinx Initiatives, Marcos is able to serve the Latinx community on UNT's campus to provide a welcoming environment as well as connect students to different Latinx organizations on campus. In his free time, Marcos enjoys cooking, baking, watching movies, reading, traveling, and learning different recipes!
